Made a last minute reservation. My colleague recommended this, as I was looking for something in mid-town. We get there right at our reservation time, and the only table they had was outside. We're not super picky, so we said yes to the outside. This was good and bad. It was a bit of a chilly night, and heaters were angled away from the edges of the patio. On the plus side, we got to do some people-watching. Service was fine. I like that when we needed new teas, they just gave us new ones so they were piping hot (rather than pouring hot tea into a half-full mug of cold tea -- because then you just get lukewarm tea *side eye*). Now for the food. The food is amazing. We started with the homemade tofu, which had a lot of add-ins (really not sure what they were), which made it tart and flavorful. They are not shy about saying this is Jonathan Gold's favorite dish. The truffle tempura brussell sprouts were also good - lightly fried, the truffle salt was nice. The chicken oysters were nice and tender, the beef cooked medium and juicy, the lamb chop flavorful (the mushroom sauce was nice). OH and the premium beef tongue -- so good. Came on a hot plate that was ON FIRE. I'll post a pic. And shrimp toast. Never had this before, but delicious. The meal also came with three dipping sauces. Couldn't quite discern what each was, although one tasted like chili sauce with mayo, another was citrus-y, and the third was like fermented soy (like, doenjang - this was my fav). They also have an omakase menu that includes sashimi and sushi, which seems like a pretty good deal. We weren't in the mood for raw fish that night, so skipped on that. We didn't get drinks or dessert, but plan on being back at some point. Everything was fairly reasonably priced. We were both completely full, and our bill came out to less than $90, which includes tax and tip (keep in mind, this was pre-pandemic, in 2019). As for parking, we found metered street parking, but there is also a valet. According to others, it's anywhere between $5-8. (From May 6, 2019)

I recently visited Robota Jinya for my close friend's birthday with my sister and girlfriend. The atmosphere was delightful, creating the perfect setting for a celebratory evening. We were very pleased with the sushi selection, especially the crispy shrimp and tuna crispy rice, which were exceptionally delicious and beautifully presented! We also drank a good amount of sake and beer so that may have elevated the night as well! The fish is fresh and there a bunch of good rolls to choose from. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting Japanese bbq and sushi fusion. It's more of that kind of restaurant than a classic Japanese sushi restaurant. The attentive service and inviting ambiance made this celebration truly memorable. I would easily come back!

Came during happy hour and really enjoyed it. We got a lot of the happy hour food and soju. My favorite was definitely their beef tongue grilled to perfection and everything else. Alcohol is well priced. Would definitely come here again, great fast service and there's both indoors + outdoors for whatever vibe you want.

Love the ambience and the blazing fires by the outdoor seating areas. Lots of tables inside and out, street parking available, 1-2 hrs each, free after 8. I've been looking for a izakaya place like this with happy hr most days of the week, so glad I found this chain! A chain with tradition, like a Benihana. The prices though, still leaning towards a higher end. One skewer is $3-5. Usually ordering skewers come in a set of two, especially if you're charging $5, but it's just one. Beer prices weren't anything to scream about, $6 for Sapporo, pretty much higher than other happy hr Japanese sushi bars. Service is great though and the ambience is over all dark. Love the large sized well stocked bathrooms though... Highly recommend taking down the prices of happy hr... and bring back Kanpyo rolls!

Loved everything about it! We came on a Sunday night and was able to get seated right away without reservations. The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing. Stand out dish - the tofu. It's amazing. They pour the fresh Soy milk in and bowl, you wait 5 mins and bam, fresh silky tofu. The texture is so soft and silky, yum. We ordered a variety of skewers but my fav was the cha sew pork belly. The wagyu skewer was $20 but didn't melt in my mouth..meh. We ordered several rolls..everything was okay. Nothing stood out. Drinks- lychee drink, so good. They put this bubble on top of it and it's just giving off snowglobe vibes. Holidays season, snow globe, fits rhe bill. Also, extra perk is it's walkable from the Grove so that was nice.

All the sushi here is super fresh and reasonably priced! My friend took me here for a late dinner around 9:15pm and the place was still very crowded and lively. Since it was so packed we ended up sitting at the sushi bar which was a bit quieter and we had our own space. I highly recommend the seared salmon belly, seared toro, and of course the smoked toro topped with uni. We also got uni and it was super fresh and absolutely delicious. I didn't even get a chance to try their ramen or yakitori as we were so focused on the sushi. Will definitely be back to try their other dishes. I'm a fan of Jinya Robata!!

We came in here for a quick bite and sat at the bar, the restaurant was full and the atmosphere is relaxing with their dim lights. We ordered multiple things just to try out and all of them were really good, I'll put the in the order from my favorite. 1. Pork belly (thicker one) 2.Wagyu ribeye skewer 3. Tender beef tongue 4.Chicken thigh 5.Tsukune Then we ordered Miso soup, avocado/cucumber rolls, and gyoza that's in a soup. The service could have been a little better, it did take awhile to get water and then to order we had to flag someone down. Other than that I'll be back for the Wagyu rib eye and to try the specialty rolls !
